ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department has two main divisions namely:

  • Regional Office Administration (ROA)
  • Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA)

Regional Office Administration Division (ROA)


The ROA division is responsible for coordinating the activities of the ministry in the region for easy implementing of policies and programmes. The nine (9) states of the region are grouped into three zones. Each of the nine states is under the control of a coordinator. The states and zones are as follows: (i) Abia, Bayelsa and Rivers (ii) Delta, Edo and Ondo states (DEO) (iii) Akwa-Ibom, Cross River and Imo states (ACI) Inter-Governmental Affairs Division (IGA) – The IGA division is divided into two branches: external relations and internal relations. These two branches act as the necessary link for the ministry on policy matters.

External Relations – This branch address issues pertaining to international organizations, bi-lateral relations and multi-lateral activities.


Internal Relations
– Works closely with the governors, LGA chairmen, traditional rulers, non-governmental organizations and clan heads of these communities located in the nine states of the Niger Delta region with a view to maintaining a strong partnership between the government and all stakeholders.
