Dear Colleagues, it gives me great honour and privilege to present to you my manifesto as prescribed by the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association 2015.
As a committed financial member who has meritoriously served the Ibadan branch, as an Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and currently a NEC member of this Association, I have garnered requisite knowledge and expertise to serve in the highly revered office of the 1st Assistant General Secretary for the growth and progress of this great Association.
Avalanche of eulogies and commendations of the track record of my sterling performance and selfless service in different capacities I had served the Association by members both within and outside my local branch, further reinforced the hitherto inextinguishable passion and interest to serve this great Association and immensely contribute to the repositioning and development of the Association of our dream to an enviable height.
Designedly, I want to leverage on my unparalleled leadership qualities, outstanding innovativeness, communicative acumen, accuracy in record keeping, vast secretarial expertise; unrivalled wealth of experience and demonstrable understanding of the dynamics of our dear Association to assiduously work with other industrious and visionary officers for a rebranded Association of international standard and best practices.
It is instructive to note that, at this point in our national life where high premium is placed on ridding the system of maladies and rot that afflict every fabrics and facet of our nation; and considering the pivotal role our dear Association plays in national development; ideally, the emergence of a breed of leaders made up of an assemblage of men of unfeigned integrity, character, honesty, capacity, track record of selfless service and fresh ideas will not only correspondingly redirect the collapsible trajectory of our dear Association, but will also undoubtedly herald an auspicious beginning for a desirable and befitting Association of our dream.
My vision is succinctly condensed into the following:
I will vigorously advocate for and see to the realisation of Lawyers’ electronic data bank or database, which will ensure easy identification and profiling of lawyers.
I will initiate and ensure robust mentoring programmes that would advance the interest of young lawyers.
I will also advocate for the immediate online accessibility of practice licence as soon as practising fee is paid, so as to ward off persons parading themselves as ‘‘lawyers’’.
As a servant and team player assuming an assistive role, I will support the General Secretary, President and other members of the executive to realise a common progressive and innovative programmes; through ideas, suggestions and initiatives.
I will take advantage of my vast communicative prowess, multitasking, time management and incredible organisation to keep immaculate records of meetings, attendance & correspondences and to ensure a readily available recorded minute of meeting that can be accessed by or be disseminated to all members, so as to keep them abreast of all developments and changes.
I shall avail myself as the go-between, between the office of the General Secretary and the other offices for an effective service delivery and cohesion.
I shall assist the General Secretary to convene meetings, write and dispatch circulars, letters and other correspondences; record and keep the minutes of meeting including attendance and summary of all decisions taken thereat; and put together reports and the agenda prior to meetings.
In the light of the foregoing that I reverently seek your unflinching support and litany of members of various branches and beyond that you can seamlessly sway to vote for me as 1st Assistant Secretary of this great Association.
Thank you and God bless.
